About the colour...
Royal Purple gets it’s name from the shade being historically associated with royalty. Queen Elizabeth II wore a long purple velvet robe when leaving Westminster Abbey on her Coronation Day in 1953, together with the Imperial State Crown which had a matching velvet cap.
